Electric Engine Specifications

An AC synchronous permanent magnet is the nature of the engine. This produces 94 hp at 3000 to 5000 rpm, with a maximum wattage of 400 volts.

Engine Specifications

What makes the Ford Escape Hybrid different from the regular Ford escape is that the 2006 Ford Escape Hybrid is driven by 2.3L I4 Atkinson cycle engine and an electric motor powered by a nickel-metal-hydride battery pack. The displacement on this engine is 2.3L (140 CID) with 133 hp at 6,000 rpm, and 155 hp for the combined electric and gasoline motor. With a compression ratio of 12.4 and torque of 124 lb.ft. at 4250 rpm, abot 26 lb.ft. less than the Ford Escape. The Hybrid does 36 miles per gallon (mpg) in the city and 31 mpg on the highway. The increased efficiency in the city (stop and go traffic) is due to the ability of the Ford Escape Hybrid to switch to pure electric power when either going at a slow speed or stopping. It seems that a dynamo converts energy during highway miles to provide electric energy for the city powers the batteries. This ability breaking edge technology allows the Ford Escape Hybrid to do up to 500 miles on one tank of gas (about 15 gallons).
